NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans' direction as a team is something to watch closely as the games begin, but at this stage there is a big disconnect between the way the Titans see the team internally(or at least what they say publicly) and what the expectation for the Titans is nationally.

That divide is never more present then when taking a look at Super Bowl odds for next season. Per FanDuel Sportsbook, the Titans have the fifth-lowest chance to win a championship at +7500. That means if you placed a $100 bet and won, you'd win $7,500.

The Titans don't seem to agree with those odds. They still have Ryan Tannehill, Derrick Henry and Kevin Byard on the roster. All highly-paid veterans who only make sense for a team that is going all in to win as many games as possible. Obviously, betting odds aren't a guaranteed predictor, but the Titans would truly have to shock the world to prove the oddsmakers wrong.

The more likely outcome is the Titans are riding a fence that doesn't help them in any meaningful way. The Titans took a quarterback and running back on day two of the 2023 NFL draft and didn't take a receiver until the last round despite it being a major hole on the roster. None of those moves sound like a team trying to win right now.

There is still a little over three months until the season kicks off and that means the Titans have time to improve the roster. It also means there is still time to make trades that make the team worse in the short term.

While a trade or trades of the Titans' stars may upset the fan base, it would at least be a commitment to a direction which they have yet to do this offseason. Regardless of the moves they ultimately make, it would take a blockbuster move to impact the odds in a significant way. So, the most optimistic Titans' fans will be happy to see the odds they are presented with and that is unlikely to change.
