INDIANAPOLIS -- New Tennessee Titans general manager Ran Carthon met with media members on Tuesday at the NFL Combine. Carthon spoke on a variety of topics, including quarterback Ryan Tannehill. For the time being, it sounds as if the Titans plan to move forward with the veteran as their starter.

Carthon expressed how much of a professional Tannehill is and how excited he is to move forward with him as the team's quarterback.

"Ryan's done a great job. Ryan's won a lot of football games," Carthon said. "He's been a diligent worker. He's been in the building every day rehabbing and getting his work in. He's under contract, and I'm excited about moving forward with him."

When asked specifically about the commitment to Tannehill as the team's starter in 2023, Carthon referred back to the veteran quarterback being under contract.

"Ryan is under contract," Carthon said. "I just want to speak freely for a moment. I know everybody wants to make a big deal out of the quarterback position and whether he will or won't be here. But you guys just have to accept the fact that Ryan is under contract for us. Right now, he's a Titan, and he will be a Titan."

Carthon also spoke on the importance of evaluating every position, including quarterback, and that the Titans will do just that during the NFL Draft.

Tannehill remains under contract through the 2023 season and is set to earn $27 million, per Spotrac. Cutting Tannehill could free up more cap space for the Titans. If Tannehill is cut or traded before June 1, Tennessee will clear up $17.8 million. If he's cut after June 1, they'll clear up $27 million.

Ultimately, while Carthon did speak highly of the veteran signal-caller during Tuesday's presser, no one truly has a concrete answer as to whether or not Tannehill will be the team's quarterback in 2023 or even beyond.
