NASHVILLE - We're down to the final two positions on our Tennessee Titans Roste Rundown, as we've reached the backend of the defense where only the cornerbacks, safeties, and specialists remain.

While the cornerbacks were much maligned in 2022, there's optimism among the Titans coaches that with new secondary coach Chris Harris in place, and a veteran free agent addition to that group, the play will improve this season.

This season could exceed most predictions if this group can improve their collective performance to match what the front seven can do. At the same time, if their struggles continue this season, it could turn into a long season.

THE PLAYERS

Sean Murphy-Bunting, Kristian Fulton, Caleb Farley, Roger McCreary, Tre Avery, Elijah Molden, Shyheim Carter, Anthony Kendall, LJ Davis, Steven Jones Jr., Eric Garror, Armani Marsh

Sean Murphy-Bunting: The veteran free agent has been a boost to the secondary and is set to step into a role as one of the starting corners.

Kristian Fulton: Believed to be the best corner on the roster, Fulton struggled last season due to injuries but must stay healthy and on the field if he is to be indeed the player some believe he is capable of being. It's also a contract year for him, so he has even more incentive to produce, and he changed his offseason training routine in hopes of being able to stay healthy.

Roger McCreary: The second-year corner was rushed into the lineup last season and played well at times but also had rookie moments. So far during the offseason program, his performance reviews have been solid, and he, along with the other two starters, should form a substantial starting group on the outside and as the slot corner.

THE BACKUPS

Elijah Molden: We'll put Molden here as the top backup, but he could also be headed for a role as a safety, as he spent time working there during OTAs and minicamp.

Tre Avery: The second-year corner out of Rutgers signed as a free agent in 2022 and had some moments. Like the rest of this group, he must make a major leap forward this season.

THE WILDCARD

Caleb Farley: The former first-round draft pick was to be the Titans answer to the lockdown corner, but injuries have kept Farley out of the lineup and off the field for most of his short career. If he can finally stay healthy- that's a big if, considering he underwent another procedure on his neck during the offseason- he could provide something that could propel this group to a new level. However, don't hold your breath for this one to happen.

HOPEFULS

Shyheim Carter: The former Alabama corner, Carter, looked more comfortable during the most recent practices, but it still is a work in progress.

LJ Davis: The undrafted rookie had some moments during the recent minicamp, including a nice interception of fellow rookie Will Levis. He is hopeful and will battle during camp.

PRACTICE SQUAD

Armani Marsh: The former Washington State standout could be headed to the practice squad.

Eric Garror: Another player with some talent, Garror was undrafted but brings return ability, along with corner play. He is a candidate for the practice squad.
