The Vikings have parted ways with Head Athletic Trainer Uriah Myrie, the team announced on Friday. Myrie had been with the franchise since 2022, replacing longtime fixture Eric Sugarman in the role as the Vikings changed regimes.

"We appreciate Uriah’s commitment and contributions to the organization and to Vikings players over the past two years," the team said in a statement. "We wish him personal and professional success in the future."

This decision was reportedly unrelated to any injuries sustained by Vikings players this year, but instead had to do with the organization's vision for the future of its player health and performance department.

Tyler Williams, the Vikings' VP of Player Health and Performance, remains the leader of that department and will determine the staff structure moving forward. It's unclear if Myrie will be replaced via an internal promotion or an external hire.

2023 was a challenging year for the Vikings, injury-wise. Kirk Cousins' season-ending Achilles tear in Week 8 derailed the season, and he was far from the only important player to get hurt. T.J. Hockenson suffered a torn MCL and ACL late in the year, Jordan Hicks missed four games due to a scary leg injury, and Marcus Davenport only played two full games. D.J. Wonnum, Cam Akers, and Dean Lowry are some other names who ended the year on injured reserve.

Prior to joining the Vikings, Myrie had spent five seasons with the Texans as an assistant athletic trainer.
