A new wave of NFL player prop totals has been released by BetOnline. Let's take a look at the over/unders for a few key Vikings players in 2023.

Alexander Mattison - Rushing Yards 2023 Regular Season

  • Over/Under 875.5

Mattison has never had more than 491 rushing yards in a season, but he's also never been a full-time starter before. With the Vikings releasing Dalvin Cook this offseason, Mattison is set to take on the No. 1 role for the first time in his career. Minnesota's other backs — Ty Chandler, Kene Nwangwu, and rookie DeWayne McBride — could also be in the mix for touches, but this is primarily Mattison's backfield.

If he stays healthy for 17 games, Mattison would need to average just over 51.5 rushing yards per game to hit the over. In 14 career games with at least ten carries, he's averaged 67.1 rushing yards per contest. It's worth noting that only one of those games happened last season under head coach Kevin O'Connell, whose offense was among the most pass-heavy in the league (which didn't stop Cook from running for 1,173 yards).

O'Connell has said he wants to run the ball more in 2023, and the Vikings' offseason moves (acquiring TE Josh Oliver, re-signing FB C.J. Ham) seem to back that up. The possibilities of an injury or the backfield becoming a committee situation exist, but it feels like Mattison has a solid chance to go over this number.

Alexander Mattison - Rushing TDs 2023 Regular Season

  • Over/Under 6.5

Mattison entered last season with six career rushing touchdowns, then had five in 2022 on just 74 total carries. Cook, in the starting role, had eight of his own, while Ham and Kirk Cousins each had two rushing touchdowns of their own.

Again, if Mattison stays healthy and remains the starter all season, seven rushing touchdowns feels within reach. He's not the breakaway speed threat Cook is, but his powerful running style is ideal for short-yardage scores.

Harrison Smith - Interceptions 2023 Regular Season

  • Over/Under 3

Smith, the Vikings' longest-tenured player, is tied for the career interceptions lead among active players with 34 in 11 seasons. He had five last year and has at least pushed this line in five of the last six seasons. However, he's going to be used more frequently as a blitzer this year under Brian Flores than he was in 2022. You'd think a player with his instincts and ball skills can get to at least three picks, but it might be a sweat.

Danielle Hunter - Sacks 2023 Regular Season

  • Over/Under 9.5

Hunter is back with the Vikings after signing a reworked one-year contract for this season. Once the youngest player in NFL history to reach 50 career sacks, he has topped this total in four of his last five healthy seasons, getting to 10.5 last year. The biggest risk with betting this over is injuries; Hunter missed all of 2020 and over half of '21 due to season-ending ailments.

Hunter is +3300 to lead the league in sacks at SI Sportsbook.
