Kirk Cousins Will Reach a Vikings Milestone on Sunday

In this story:
When Kirk Cousins takes the field on Sunday, he'll break a tie with Daunte Culpepper and move into sole possession of third place on the games started leaderboard among all quarterbacks in Vikings history.
Culpepper made 80 regular season starts with Minnesota from 2000-05; Cousins' start against the Buccaneers this weekend will be his 81st. After Sunday, the only QBs with more Vikings starts than Cousins will be Fran Tarkenton (170) and Tommy Kramer (110).
Having joined the Vikings for his age-30 season, Cousins (now 35) isn't going to break any of Tarkenton's franchise records. But if he stays healthy this season, he'll pass Kramer and end up in second place in all of the major categories. Cousins trails Kramer by 134 completions, 3,841 passing yards, and six touchdown passes. He's had at least 4,200 yards in four of his five seasons with the Vikings.
Cousins is set to hit free agency after this season, so this may end up being his last year with the Vikings. For now, all he's focused on is proving himself once again.
Although wins are not solely a quarterback stat, Cousins has led just one playoff victory in five years since signing with the Vikings in 2018. He led the league in game-winning drives last season during Minnesota's surprising 13-win campaign, but ultimately threw short of the sticks with the game on the line in the postseason.
In 2023, Cousins has another opportunity to determine his Vikings legacy.
