Chiefs superstar tight end Travis Kelce, the talk of the NFL in recent weeks due to his relationship with Taylor Swift, may have suffered a significant injury late in the first half against the Vikings on Sunday.

Kelce caught a pass and appeared to suffer a non-contact injury to his right foot/ankle. He limped off the field, slammed his helmet, and eventually limped to the locker room for evaluation.

The good news is that when the second half began, Kelce was on the sideline testing out his taped-up ankle. His return has been listed as questionable.

Update: Crisis averted. Kelce is back in the game.

It's worth noting that U.S. Bank Stadium is one of four NFL venues that still has slit film turf. Studies have shown that surface has led to more non-contact injuries than others. The turf is schedule to be replaced after this season.

Kelce had five catches for 22 yards before leaving the game. The Vikings and Chiefs were tied 13-13 at halftime.

If Kelce can't return to action, Patrick Mahomes will be without his clear-cut No. 1 target. Noah Gray would see a lot more work as the Chiefs' new top tight end. Justin Watson, Justyn Ross, Kadarius Toney, Jerick McKinnon, Skyy Moore, and Rashee Rice also caught at least one pass in the first half of this game.
