In this story:

Two more assistant coach hires for Kevin O'Connell's 2023 Vikings coaching staff have been reported. Michael Hutchings is joining the team as an assistant linebackers coach and Dalmin Gibson has been hired as assistant special teams coach. Both moves were first reported by Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports.

Hutchings was last with Western Kentucky as their outside linebackers coach, following stints as a defensive analyst at Oregon and USC. He played linebacker at USC from 2013-16. Hutchings replaces Sam Siefkes as Minnesota's assistant linebackers coach; was hired as the Cardinals' linebackers coach under former Vikings assistants Jonathan Gannon and Nick Rallis.

Hutchings will work closely with defensive coordinator Brian Flores, outside linebackers coach Mike Smith, and new inside linebackers coach Mike Siravo. The Vikings' linebacker group is in flux, with Eric Kendricks being released and Brian Asamoah presumably stepping into a starting role. Jordan Hicks' future is also uncertain.

Gibson was the special teams coordinator and defensive ends coach for Southern Illinois last year after two years as a special teams analyst at Michigan State. Before that, he was a graduate assistant at Colorado. Gibson replaces Ben Kotwica, who was hired as the Broncos' special teams coordinator, and will be the No. 2 behind Vikings second-year STC Matt Daniels. Minnesota's special teams were highly impactful in the team's 13-win season last year.
