Vikings vs. 49ers Live Score Updates: Monday Night Football, Week 7

In this story:
This is a big opportunity for the Vikings to get their season back on track with an upset victory in primetime. They're hosting the 5-1 49ers at U.S. Bank Stadium on Monday Night Football — and it'll be a motivated San Francisco team coming off its first loss.
The Vikings are 2-4, but all four losses have come by seven points or fewer and could've turned out differently if not for some untimely turnovers and missed opportunities. They kept hope alive last Sunday with their second victory of the season, taking down the Bears in Chicago behind a dominant defensive performance.
It's going to take a much better game on the offensive side of the ball for Minnesota to have a chance against a 49ers team that is one of NFL's top Super Bowl contenders this season. The Niners have both an elite offense and an elite defense, which makes the task an awfully daunting one for Kevin O'Connell's team.
It does help that the 49ers will be without Trent Williams and Deebo Samuel, which evens things out a little bit with the Vikings' Justin Jefferson and Marcus Davenport injuries. But San Francisco will have Christian McCaffrey, who was questionable coming into the game. Brian Flores and the Vikings look to put pressure on Brock Purdy and keep players like McCaffrey, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle contained to some degree.
Defensively, Nick Bosa and Fred Warner lead the way for a 49ers team that is stacked at all three levels. O'Connell and Kirk Cousins will be looking for a much better performance than they put up last week in their first game without Jefferson.

Live Updates
Fourth Quarter
0:00 — Cam Bynum's second interception of the quarter seals the deal. Vikings win.
1:10 — Greg Joseph's kick from 50 yards out is no good. The 49ers have a chance.
5:30 — Camryn Bynum just picked off Brock Purdy to get the Vikings the ball back in a huge situation. A bad decision and throw from Purdy.
Vikings 22, 49ers 17
13:21 — Kyle Shanahan elects to kick a long field goal on 4th and 6. Jake Moody, who missed from 40 earlier, drills this one from 55.
Third Quarter
Vikings 22, 49ers 14
0:20 — The Vikings' drive stalled, but Greg Joseph's 54-yard field goal extends their lead to eight points. Jordan Addison hobbled off the field with an apparent foot injury on the series.
Vikings 19, 49ers 14
5:54 — Christian McCaffrey is unbelievable. His second touchdown of the night, this one coming on a swing pass from Brock Purdy, gets the 49ers back within one score. The Vikings have a lot of work to do.
Vikings 19, 49ers 7
6:59 — That's another failed goal line series from the Vikings. They had first and goal at the 1 after Jordan Addison drew a DPI flag, but had to settle for three points again. They're leaving the door open for the 49ers.
12:16 — Danielle Hunter sacked Brock Purdy, giving him 80 sacks on his career. The Vikings got a huge stop to open the second half.
Second Quarter
Vikings 16, 49ers 7
0:00 — Wow. Jordan Addison just wrestled the ball away from Charvarius Ward for a 60-yard touchdown right before halftime, his second of the day. That was an incredible play from the rookie. Greg Joseph missed the extra point.
Vikings 10, 49ers 7
1:01 — That was a long, efficient drive by the 49ers to get on the board. Christian McCaffrey just scored a touchdown for the NFL-record 16th consecutive game. It would be big if the Vikings could get points here, because San Francisco gets the ball to begin the second half.
Vikings 10, 49ers 0
7:33 — Another great drive by the Vikings, this time with a disappointing ending. They went 67 yards after the missed field goal and got down to the 2 on a long catch and run by Cam Akers, but settled for three points.
14:53 — After a Vikings stop on third down, 49ers rookie Jake Moody missed a 40-yard field goal wide right. That's another much-needed break for Minnesota.
First Quarter
0:00 — San Francisco is driving again as the first quarter comes to a close. Brock Purdy has been super impressive so far with just one incompletion and a big scramble for a first down.
Vikings 7, 49ers 0
4:48 — What a drive from the Vikings' offense. After the takeaway, they went 89 yards on ten plays against one of the best defenses in football, capping it with Jordan Addison's fifth touchdown reception in seven games this season.
11:03 — Well, the Vikings got the ball right back on a Harrison Smith forced fumble against Christian McCaffrey. Dean Lowry secured the recovery. The 49ers were moving the ball with ease before the turnover.
13:41 — Stop me if you've heard this before: The Vikings turned the ball over on their opening drive. On the third play from scrimmage, Kirk Cousins tried to hit Jordan Addison on a slant and it was ripped away by Charvarius Ward for another early turnover.
