In this story:

Vikings outside linebacker Marcus Davenport was carted off the field in Chicago during the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Bears at Soldier Field.

Davenport suffered the injury on a play near the goal line early in the quarter. With trainers by his side, he hopped to the sideline without putting any weight on one of his ankles. His return was initially listed as questionable. After being evaluated in the medical tent, Davenport was carted to the locker room.

This could be another unfortunate blow for Davenport, who missed essentially all of the season's first three games with an ankle injury. He was able to play against the Panthers in Week 4 and made a big impact in the Vikings' first win of the season. Davenport had a sack against Carolina and another last week against Kansas City.

This week, Davenport showed up on the injury report with an elbow injury, but he came into Sunday's game without any sort of designation. Now it's possible he'll have to miss more time due to his ankle.

One of the Vikings' big free agent signings this offseason, Davenport inked a one-year, $13 million deal with Minnesota after five seasons with the Saints. Injury issues have been a significant part of the story of his NFL career thus far; he missed time in New Orleans due to a wide variety of ailments.

Unfortunately, one of the Vikings' most important pass rushers hasn't been able to shake the "injury-prone" label this year either.
