Vikings NFL Draft Day 3 Preview: Picks, Positions of Need, Players Available

In this story:
The Vikings had just two total picks in the first three rounds of the 2023 NFL Draft, which they used on USC players Jordan Addison and Mekhi Blackmon. They'll be much busier on Saturday, as they have five total Day 3 selections after adding two more in a trade late on Friday night.
Here's the Vikings' current slate of picks. Given GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah's propensity for making trades, this can and probably will change:
- Round 1, Pick 23: USC WR Jordan Addison
- Round 3, Pick 102 (via SF): USC CB Mekhi Blackmon
- Round 4, Pick 119 (via DET)
- Round 5, Pick 158
- Round 5, Pick 164 (via SF)
- Round 6, Pick 211 (compensatory)
- Round 7, Pick 222 (via SF)
Wide receiver and cornerback were the Vikings' two most obvious needs, and they've already addressed both. They could still double down at either position, of course. Some other position groups that make sense to address on Day 3 include defensive tackle, edge rusher, linebacker, interior offensive line, and running back. The Vikings could also potentially take a flier on a Day 3 quarterback.
Both Addison and Blackmon took top-30 visits to TCO Performance Center in April, so keep an eye on this list of all the players the Vikings hosted on official visits. At pick 119, some players who could make sense for the Vikings include Bowling Green DT Karl Brooks, UAB RB DeWayne McBride, and Florida A&M LB Isaiah Land.
Some of the biggest names still available heading into Day 3 are Georgia CB Kelee Ringo, Northwestern DL Adetomiwa Adebawore, South Carolina CB Darius Rush, and Ohio State OT Dawand Jones. Check out SI's list of the top 201 players on the board heading into Saturday.
And will anything happen with a Vikings veteran trade candidate like Dalvin Cook or Za'Darius Smith? Stay tuned.
