Let's get caught up on the latest Vikings offseason news.

Tomlinson's void date pushed back

The Vikings and defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson have agreed to push the void date in his contract back to March 15th, according to ESPN's Field Yates. Previously, Tomlinson's contract would've voided this week, which would've accelerated $7.5 million (three void years at $2.5 million each) onto the Vikings' 2023 salary cap as dead money.

Pushing the void date back gives the two sides more time to work out an extension. If that happens, the void years could remain spread throughout the new contract, lowering Tomlinson's impact on the 2023 cap. More importantly, it would mean the Vikings bringing back one of their best defensive players from last season. Tomlinson played 13 games in 2022 and still recorded a career-high in pressures with 29. His 77.1 PFF grade ranked 14th out of 76 DTs who played at least 400 snaps.

If the Vikings and Tomlinson don't work out a new deal by March 15th, he will become an unrestricted free agent and that $7.5 million will hit the Vikings' cap this year.

Vikings parting ways with Manusky

The Vikings have parted ways with inside linebackers coach Greg Manusky, according to multiple reports over the weekend. Manusky, who has previously been a defensive coordinator for four NFL franchises, spent one year in Minnesota. This move comes as the team transitions to new coordinator Brian Flores, who is a former LBs coach himself. It'll be interesting to see who Flores brings in to replace Manusky.

The Vikings have four openings on their coaching staff right now, with more potentially coming: ILBs coach, assistant DL coach (A'Lique Terry left), assistant QBs coach (Jerrod Johnson left), and assistant special teams coordinator (Ben Kotwica left).

Former Vikings owner McCombs dies at 95

Red McCombs, the Texas billionaire who owned the Vikings from 1998 to 2004 and also owned the NBA's Spurs and Nuggets during his life, died this week at age 95. McCombs bought the Vikings for $250 million in 1998 and, after unsuccessfully pushing to replace the Metrodome, sold the franchise to the Wilf family before the 2005 season.

"The Vikings are saddened by the passing of former team owner Red McCombs," the team said in a statement. "Red embodied his famous 'Purple Pride' phrase and remained a staunch Vikings fan after passing the torch to the Wilf family in 2005. While Red had a clear passion for sports, it was evident what he loved the most were his children and grandchildren. Our thoughts and prayers are with the McCombs family during this difficult time."
