Vikings Provide Update on Rookie WR's Injury Status Ahead of Training Camp

In this story:
Vikings rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison, the team's first-round pick this year, hasn't participated in practice since an undisclosed injury flared up on him during rookie minicamp in early May. He missed all of OTAs and was again a helmet-less spectator at Tuesday's mandatory minicamp.
Head coach Kevin O'Connell said he expects Addison will be a full go for training camp, which begins in late July.
"We've had a plan in place for him and continuing to kind of build up to where he'll be," O'Connell said. "He'll be spending quite a bit of time continuing in his playbook, he's been phenomenal in meetings and out here asking great questions when they come up. My expectation is that Jordan will be full when we get going in late July."
A couple weeks ago, O'Connell said that the Vikings were being "overly cautious" with Addison, not wanting to rush him back into action. The rookie from USC's focus has still been on learning as much as possible so he's ready to roll when training camp comes around.
It remains to be seen what role Addison will have early in his debut season. That will be determined by his play during camp and preseason action. But in part because he's missed time this offseason, Addison has a long ways to go if he's going to surpass fourth-year veteran K.J. Osborn on the depth chart.
The big story of Tuesday was Justin Jefferson's return to practice. Among many other things, the Vikings superstar was asked about Addison and his expectations for his new position mate.
"There's not really too much expectations," Jefferson said. "I want him to be himself, not really him being another Adam (Thielen). I just hope he helps the team in the way that we need him to help, and I'mma help (him) as much as possible."
We'll have to wait until training camp to see the duo in action.
