As a result of his July 20th citation for driving 140 miles per hour, Vikings rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison has agreed to plead guilty to a petty misdemeanor speeding charge. The agreement was filed on Wednesday in Ramsey County District Court.

As part of the plea deal, Addison's misdemeanor charge for reckless driving was dismissed. He will pay a $686 fine and have his driver's license revoked for six months because he was driving over 100 MPH. Addison, 21, will attend a hearing on September 19th, where judge Maria Mitchell will decide whether or not to approve the agreement.

Addison was cited shortly after 3 a.m. on July 20th for speeding and reckless driving on I-94 near St. Paul. He told the State Patrol officer that an emergency with his dog was the reason he was speeding.

Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell and GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah made it clear that they had talked to Addison and he understood this can't be something that ever happens again.

"Yesterday morning I made a mistake and used poor judgment," Addison said in a statement the following day. "I recognize and own that. I am going to learn from this and not repeat the behavior. I am truly sorry."

Addison, the 23rd overall pick in this year's draft after a standout career at Pitt and USC, will not face any NFL or team discipline. He had an impressive first training camp and is line to play a big role in the Vikings' offense this season.
