Vikings Roster Moves and Status Updates: Nick Vigil, Justin Jefferson, Sean Mannion

In this story:
As expected, Justin Jefferson won't make his return for the Vikings on Sunday against the Saints. Although he was listed as questionable on Friday, the plan was always to build him back up slowly in practice before letting him loose once he's 100 percent. Jefferson has now been officially ruled out by the team.
The earliest Jefferson will return from his hamstring injury is next Sunday in Denver, but it also might not happen until the Bears game in Week 12 or after the Vikings' Week 13 bye.
Here are the other roster moves and status updates from the Vikings on Saturday:
- Signed linebacker Nick Vigil to the active roster (from the practice squad)
- Elevated QB Sean Mannion from the practice squad
- Elevated DT T.J. Smith from the practice squad
- Signed DT Sheldon Day to the practice squad
- G Chris Reed (IR) has been downgraded to OUT
Vigil was elevated from the PS in each of the last two games and played on special teams. Now out of elevations, the Vikings had to sign him to the active roster to continue having him available. The veteran previously started 12 games for Minnesota in 2021 before spending last season with the Cardinals.
With Jaren Hall still in concussion protocol, Mannion will back up Josh Dobbs at quarterback against the Saints. It's unclear who the Vikings' emergency QB beyond those two might be.
This is the second consecutive elevation for Smith, with Dean Lowry set to miss another game due to a groin injury.
