Watch: Jordan Addison Catches First Career Touchdown Pass

In this story:
The Vikings' first touchdown of the season belongs to their rookie sensation. Facing a 3rd and 11 early in the second quarter, Jordan Addison got behind the Buccaneers' defense for a 39-yard catch from Kirk Cousins to give Minnesota the lead. One game, and already one career touchdown reception for Addison.
The packed house at U.S. Bank Stadium loved it.

Justin Jefferson — who already had three catches for 63 yards at the time of the play — clearly helped create this touchdown. His gravity caused a Tampa Bay safety to get out of position for Addison's deep post route, which Cousins hit with ease.
The Vikings selected Addison with the 23rd overall pick in this year's draft to give them another weapon in the passing game. With Jefferson and T.J. Hockenson drawing significant defensive attention, Addison figured to benefit from seeing a lot of single coverage. His natural route-running ability and body control makes him the perfect kind of receiver to slot into that role in Minnesota's offense.
Addison won the 2021 Biletnikoff Award as the best receiver in college football after a huge season at Pitt. He then transferred to USC and had another strong season last year despite playing through an ankle injury for a bit. Addison had a fantastic first training camp with the Vikings this year.
Now he's making an early impact at the NFL level.
