Report: Dipoto To Be Named New GM Of Angels

Jerry Diooto will reportedly be named the Los Angeles Angels new general manager, according to a tweet from Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

Dipoto, a former Major League Baseball pitcher, had previously served as the interim general manager for the Arizona Diamondbacks following the dismissal of incumbent Josh Byrnes in 2010. Following the season, the full-time gig was given to Kevin Towers, not Dipoto.

The 43-year-old began his front office career as a scout for the Boston Red Sox and was part of their championship run in 2004. In 2005 he was named the head of the scouting department for the Colorado Rockies.
