Report: Mets Will Bring In Outfield Walls To Address Power Shortage

The New York Mets will adjust spacious Citi Field to bring the fences closer to the plate, according to NBC Sports.

Citi Field has served as the home of the Mets since the beginning of the 2009 season. The $900 million stadium was built with much fan-fare to replace the Mets’ first home, Shea Stadium. However the dimensions of the field as well as the park’s wind patterns are attributed to a massive power cut-off over the last three seasons for the Mets.

According to STATS LLC, the park ranked dead last in home runs in Major League Baseball during its three seasons of use. Currently the left, center, and right field fences sit 335, 408, and 330 feet away respectively, while the power alleys (left and right-center field) are 384 and 415 feet away from home plate.
