Terry Francona Expected To Interview With The Cardinals Today

Terry Francona is reportedly scheduled to interview with the St. Louis Cardinals for their open managerial position today, a source has told WEEI Sports Radio.

Francona parted ways with the Boston Red Sox this season after a tumultuous final month that saw his team fail to make the playoffs after once holding a 10 game lead in the Wild Card standings. The aftermath of the collapse also saw the team’s general manager, Theo Epstein, leave Boston for the Chicago Cubs.

As the manager of the Red Sox, Francona helped coach Boston to a 744-552 record in eight seasons. The 52-year-old also helped the team claim the American League Pennant and the World Series in both 2004 and 2007. Overall he has a 1029-915 managerial record, having also served as the skipper of the Phillies from 1997-2000.
