Report: Gus Malzahn 'Favoring' Ole Miss, UNC Looking At Skip Holtz

The NCAA football coaching carousel is already spinning pretty wildly.  As rumors continue to swirl around Urban Meyer and people wonder what Penn State will be able to do in the wake of their scandal, Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports tweets a report that two other positions are getting close to being filled.

"Talked w/ heavy hitter in coach representation," Robinson writes. "Says Gus Malzahn is favoring Ole Miss, & UNC is locking onto Skip Holtz."

In a follow-up tweet, Robinson suggests that some of Malzahn's reasons for leaning toward Ole Miss include the SEC connection and the coach's familiarity with the area for recruiting purposes.

Malzahn is currently the highly-regarded offensive coordinator at Auburn; according to a report on AL.com, he declined to comment on rumors of his departure with a vaguely-worded denial.

Holtz, son of coaching legend Lou Holtz, is currently the head coach at the University of South Florida.  His squad started off 2011 with four straight wins but currently stands at 5-5 on the season.
