Houston Hires Tony Levine As Head Coach

The University of Houston will hire interim head coach and special teams coordinator Tony Levine as its next head football coach, according to the Houston Chronicle.

According to the report, the team will be notified tonight and a formal announcement will come tomorrow.

Levine, 39, has been with the Cougars since 2008; he was named interim head coach on Dec. 10, a day after former head coach Kevin Sumlin took the head coaching job at Texas A&M. According to the Chronicle, Houston also interviewed or expressed interest in Houston co-offensive coordinator/receivers coach Jason Phillips, Louisiana Tech head coach Sonny Dykes, Oklahoma State assistant head coach/special teams coordinator Joe DeForest and Boise State offensive coordinator Brent Pease.
