Report: Yankees Expect To Sign Raul Ibanez, Eric Chavez

The New York Yankees are expecting to sign both Raul Ibanez and Eric Chavez, according to ESPN New York.

Ibanez is expected to be the Yankees' regular DH in 2012, beating out Johnny Damon and other potential free-agent signings to win the job. He hit .245 with 20 home runs and 84 RBIs last season for the Philadelphia Phillies, but he turns 40 this June.

Chavez should add some extra depth to the Yankees' bench -- while he may see some time in a platoon with Ibanez at DH, he's mainly the Yankees' insurance policy for Alex Rodriguez at third base. Chavez hit .263 with two homers and 26 RBIs last season.
