Report: Braves To Sign Livan Hernandez

The Atlanta Braves will sign pitcher Livan Hernandez, who was just released by the Astros earlier on Friday, according to CBS Sports.

Hernandez had a 5.63 ERA in five spring starts for Houston, but the Braves have struggled to fill their fifth starter role, with top prospect Julio Teheran and Randall Delgado failing to step up in Spring Training.

Last season, Hernandez posted a 4.47 ERA in 175 1/3 innings for Washington.

Update (2:56 p.m.): According to David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Hernandez received a major-league contract and his signing has no effect on the fifth starting pitcher spot.
