Yadier Molina's Hand Bruised, Not Broken

St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina suffered a bruised hand yesterday on a mishandled pitch against the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to the St. Louis Post- Dispatch.

Cardinals manager Mike Matheny told reporters yesterday that an X-ray on Molina’s hand came back “clean,” meaning there was no break.

Molina suffered the injury when Cardinals relief pitcher Mitchell Boggs threw a fastball instead of the slider which the catcher had called. Molina was expecting the pitch to break and it never did, striking him in the left hand.

"He's going to be sore," Matheny said. "He'll probably have to get a couple more looks at it. We'll just wait and see what their doctor says."
