Nationals activate Chien-Ming Wang, Ryan Mattheus placed on 15-day DL

The Washington Nationals activated right-hand pitcher Chien-Ming Wang from the 15-day disabled list and placed reliever Ryan Mattheus on the 15-day DL because of plantar fasciitis.

According to MLB.com, Mattheus was not available to pitch on Monday because of some discomfort in his left foot.  He is slated to see a foot specialist in Baltimore later today.

Mattheus, 28, is 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA and with a 1.30 WHIP this season. Wang, has not pitched in the majors this season, was 4-3 with a 4.04 ERA last season with the Nationals.  Wang is coming off a left hamstring injury and is expected to be a long reliever.
