The Baltimore Orioles are continuing the tradition of adding the Ripken name to their roster. The Orioles selected Ryan Ripken, the son of former Baltimore shortstop Cal Ripken Jr., in the 20th round of the 2012 MLB Draft.

Ripken attended the Gilman School in Baltimore and played first base. The 6-6, 205-pounder has committed to play for the University of South Carolina in the fall.

Ripken hit .377 with 25 RBIs last season and also had a 4-1 record and 2.30 ERA.
