Texas Rangers left-hander Derek Holland threw off a mound on Wednesday for the first time since he was placed on the 15-day disabled list for shoulder fatigue and a stomach virus.

“I feel good,” Holland told Sarah Trotto on ESPNDallas.com. “I wasn’t throwing 100 percent down there, but it’s my first bullpen, I’m not going to try to overdo it, just trying to make sure everything’s correct, the way everything’s coming out of my hands. I felt really good. I’m just ready to get out there. That’s the main thing. Very anxious.”

Holland, who is 5-4 with a 5.10 ERA this season, said that he has targeted July 1 for his return to the rotation.

“That’s what I’m hoping for,” he said. “I’ve got to let them decide.”
