Report: Phillies ace Roy Halladay could return in two weeks from strained lat

Philadelphia Phillies righthander Roy Halladay threw his second bullpen session on Tuesday before the team's game against the New York Mets. After a 33-pitch session last Friday, Halladay followed up with a 56-pitch outing at Citi Field, according to Todd Zolecki and Christina De Nicola of MLB.com.

The site says that Halladay may throw a few more bullpen sessions and/or simulated games -- skipping a rehab stint altogether -- before rejoining the Phillies. He has been out since late May with a strained right latissimus dorsi.

Halladay, who is 4-5 with a 3.98 ERA in 11 starts, could return as early as the July 16-18 series against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Chavez Ravine.
