Report: Cubs could trade Ryan Dempster by the end of the week

Tuesday July 17th, 2012

Ryan Dempster's time in Chicago could be coming to an end. According to a tweet from ESPN's Jayson Stark, the Cubs are looking to trade the starter in the very near future. Dempster, 35, has spent the past nine season with the Cubs and owns a 5-3 record with a 1.86 ERA as a starter in 2012. Dempster is also riding a 33-inning scoreless streak, which will likely increase his value in trade negotiations - likely a big part of the reason why the Cubs would like to part with him so swiftly.
