Report: Maple Leafs discussing trade for Kings backup G Jonathan Bernier
Los Angeles Kings backup goaltender Jonathan Bernier recently asked out of L.A. when the team's top netminder, Jonathan Quick, was given a 10-year extension.
The always-looking-for-goalies Toronto Maple Leafs have made inquiries about Bernier as far back as the draft, but a source told Terry Koshan of the Toronto Sun that the Leafs' interest in Bernier has intensified.
Koshan writes: "Whether an actual offer has been made by the Leafs is not clear, but one name that has been apparently involved in trade talk is Leafs forward Matt Frattin."
Bernier, who turns 24 on Aug. 7, was the 11th overall pick in the 2006 draft and has 20-17 record with a 2.50 GAA and a .910 save percentage in 48 games.
Frattin, 24, was a fourth-round pick in the 2007 draft who played four seasons at North Dakota. In 56 games last season, he scored eight goals and had 15 points.
