Bruce Chen will play for China in World Baseball Classic, the first MLB player to do so

Bruce Chen will play for China in the World Baseball Classic, and will become the first MLB player to play for the country in the process. According to a report from, Chen will make the switch from the Panamanian team (for whom he played in the 2007 edition of the WBC) to China in 2013. Chen, 35, was born in Panama ans is of Chinese and Panamanian descent. He has had a journeyman's career in the majors, playing for 10 different teams in his 13-year career, though he has spent the last five years with the Kansas City Royals. Chen had an a11-14 record with a 5.07 ERA in 2012.
