Robert Nkemdiche, top-ranked recruit, signs with Mississippi

Robert Nkemdiche, the nation's top-ranked recruit, announced Wednesday that he would sign with Mississippi, giving the Rebels a strong start to Signing Day.

The commitment from the 6-foot-5, 260-pound defensive end had been expected, but he represents an important step for Mississippi coach Hugh Freeze as he attempts to pull together a top-five recruiting class.

SI.com's Ben Glicksman writes, "Nkemdiche's decision could help sew up the commitments of other top 2013 prospects. Five-star offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil will sign with Ole Miss, Alabama, Florida State or Georgia. Four-star safety Antonio Conner will select Ole Miss or 'Bama. And four-star offensive tackle Austin Golson will pick Ole Miss or Florida State."

Nkemdiche joins his brother, Denzel, a Freshman All-America selection at linebacker last year.
