Yankees activate Curtis Granderson from disabled list

After being out since May 24 with a broken left pinkie finger, the New York Yankees have activated outfielder Curtis Granderson from the disabled list. Granderson will be batting fifth and playing left field on Friday against the San Diego Padres.

Granderson exited the Yankees game against the Tampa Bay Rays on May 24 after being hit by a pitch on his left hand in the fifth inning. X-rays on Granderson’s left hand revealed a fractured left fifth metacarpal.

Granderson has appeared in just eight games for the Yankees this season, hitting one home run in 28 at bats. The 32-year-old outfielder hit 43 home runs and drove in 106 runs in 160 games for the Yankees last season.
