The New York Giants placed wide receiver Andre Brown on the Injured Reserve-Designated to Return list on Wednesday, according to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post.

The news comes a week after Brown broke a bone in his left leg -- the same one he fractured last season -- during the team's preseason finale in New England against the Patriots. He is not eligible to return until Week 10 -- the Giants have a bye Week 9 -- when New York hosts the Oakland Raiders in a Sunday afternoon game Nov. 10.

To take Brown's spot on the 53-man roster, the Giants signed defensive end Adewele Ojomo from the practice squad. Ojomo was on New York's roster all of last season but played in only one game, the 41-27 win on Oct. 7 vs the Cleveland Browns.

The Giants kick off their regular season Sept. 8  in Dallas against the Cowboys.
