Cleveland Browns rookie linebacker Barkevious Mingo was ruled out of the team's season opener Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Mingo was limited in practice this week, taking part in position drills, but had no contact with other players.

He was injured in the Browns’ Aug. 14 preseason game against the Detroit Lions and was hospitalized for two days because of a bruised lung.

Mingo was drafted by the Browns with the sixth pick in April's NFL Draft.
