The Baltimore Orioles' signing of free-agent closer Grant Balfour is in jeopardy due to team doctors' concerns with his right, throwing shoulder, according to Eduardo Encina and Dan Conolly of The Baltimore Sun.

Balfour and the Orioles agreed to a two-year, $15 million deal on Tuesday, which was contingent on Balfour passing a physical. Encina and Conolly reported that it is "very possible" that the deal falls through because of the shoulder concerns. The Orioles have canceled a press conference scheduled for Friday, during which they were set to introduce Balfour as the newest member of the organization.

Balfour was set to replace closer Jim Johnson, who the Orioles traded to the Oakland Athletics earlier this month.
