A former Lakers security guard has been sentenced to jail.

He will serve 180 days in jail and three years probation after pleading no contest to charges stemming from the theft of three of the teams' championship rings, according to Samantha Schaefer of the Los Angeles Times.

Mejía Eddie Monterroso, 23, stole the three rings as well as hundreds of dollars worth of gift certificates while he worked as a night watchman for the team from October to December last year. The police estimate the rings, which were from the teams' 2009 and 2010 championships, are worth nearly $20,000.
