Ex-New York City FC manager Jason Kreis released a message on Twitter on Tuesday after his Monday firing.

“I would like to sincerely thank NYCFC, and in particular Claudio Reyna, for allowing me this terrific opportunity and tremendous challenge to start a new club from scratch in the great city of New York,” Kreis wrote.

Kreis went on to thank the fans, the staff, and most specifically, the players in his message.

“Ultimately, this journey may have ended a bit abruptly and a bit too soon for my liking, but I hope that everyone knows that I gave my heart and soul to this project, to this club, and to this team,” Kreis continued.

Kreis’s club failed to make the playoffs by 12 points in its inaugural campaign, and finished in eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings with a record of 10–17–7.

The club also released assistant coaches Miles Joseph and CJ Brown on Monday.

NYCFC announced it will name its new head coach with ample time to prepare for next season.
