REPORT: Star Eagles DL Facing Potential Suspension for Hit on Joe Staley

The Eagles had a relatively stress-free win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, 33-10, which furthered their elite status as the NFL's premier team.

But the win may come with penalties after a Jalen Mills pick-six turned defender Fletcher Cox into an offender. Watch closely.

At the bottom right, you can see a 49er player down on the field. That players is Pro Bowl tackle Joe Staley, who suffered a fractured orbital bone after being blocked by Fletcher Cox during the return.

The NFL is currently investigating whether the hit was flagrant or not.

It's a rare injury in a sport where players wear facemasks, and one wonders how Cox was able to get his hands into the mask of Staley without it being an intentional shot.

But the All-Pro defensive lineman is not known for playing dirty.

Obviously, Niners fans will think it's suspension-worthy, while Eagles fans will defend one of their best, but regardless, Philly has a tough Week 9 matchup against the Denver Broncos, and they hope the issue can be resolved as soon as possible.

Staley will likely miss time as he had to undergo treatment and stayed in Philadelphia an extra day.

More word will be coming on the NFL's decision.
