Andrea Pirlo has been hired by Juventus to be the club’s new manager.

On the same day that the club fired Maurizio Sarri, Juve quickly turned around and promoted the Italian legend to lead the Bianconeri through 2022.

"Today's choice is based on the belief that Pirlo has what it takes to lead from his debut on the bench, an expert and talented squad to pursue new successes," the club wrote in an unattributed statement.

As a player, Pirlo won six Serie A titles and two UCL titles, but whether he can have similar success on the sidelines remains to be seen.

Juventus acquired Cristiano Ronaldo two years ago and has exited the Champions League early both years, so the pressure will be on for Pirlo to achieve UCL success.
