Kale Emshoff connected for a solo homer with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to lift Kansas City into an 8-8 tie with the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday. The Royals trailed 5-0, led 7-5 and trailed 8-7 in a back-and-forth affair. Vinnie Pasquantino was 2-for-3 with four RBI.
Michael Soroka allowed one hit and struck out five over four innings but the White Sox dropped a 3-1 decision on Wednesday to the Cincinnati Reds. Six Chicago pitchers gave up just three hits but two of them were home runs. Andrew Vaughn's double in the fourth plated the only run for the White Sox.
Right-hander Jordan Lyles makes his third start of the spring for Kansas City. He's allowed five runs, including four home runs, in five innings. Left-hander Garrett Crochet opens the game for Chicago. He has worked nine scoreless innings in Arizona with 12 strikeouts and a 0.700 WHIP.
