Chicken parm and laser rocket arms: Peyton Manning's best commercials
Peyton Manning has had a rough season this year, and that has some wondering if he plans on retiring soon. We hope he sticks around, but whenever Manning does decide to hang up his spikes it will be a sad day.
The silver lining is it will give the quarterback more time to do what he does best: star in commercials.
Sure, Peyton is one of the greatest to ever get under center in the NFL, but all those touchdowns are nothing compared to the joy he has brought into our home in 30-second increments over the past 18 years.
While many sites would bore you with a reel of all of the five-time MVPs touchdown throws, Extra Mustard has what you really want, which is his finest commercial work, gathered here in one place.
Mastercard – “Priceless”
Manning’s work in Mastercard’s long-running “Priceless” campaign went a long way toward cultivating the goofy personality fans associate with the star. The finest of them all is probably his trip through the supermarket, which sees Manning getting autographs and even an apron from his favorite grocery store employees.
DirecTV – Rapping Mannings
In 2013, the television watching public learned that the Manning family could do more than throw footballs, they could also rap very, very poorly. No other ads have ever made terrible music so much fun, although some have tried.
Nationwide – Chicken Parm
Nationwide Insurance has a dangerously catchy jingle, and chicken parmesan makes for a dangerously delicious sandwich. Putting them together with a commercial pitchman at the top of the game and you have this classic ad.
Manning reprised the popular series in 2015, as the insurance company's jingle infected his Thanksgiving holiday.
Oreo – DSRL
Not only are Manning’s commercials hilarious, but also they are motivational. Do you feel bad about sitting on your couch and eating Oreos? Well, you shouldn’t, because you are just training to be an elite athlete like Peyton.
OK, this is not actually a commercial for United Way, but it does contain Manning's finest work as a thespian, so it had to be included.
Peyton also starred in an actual United Way spot, which was also pretty funny and showed a considerably more friendly version of the 14-time Pro Bowl quarterback.
Everyone has a favorite football player and the mustachioed fellow in this commercial just happens to prefer Peyton Manning and his “laser, rocket arm”
