Dodgers starting pitcher Bud Norris exited Sunday’s game against the Diamondbacks due to back muscle tightness after just 13 pitches, the team announced.

Norris grabbed his back after making seven pitches, but was able to continue for six more. After recording an out, manager Dave Roberts and trainer Nate Lucero walked to the hill and removed Norris from the game. Ross Stripling took over.

After losing Clayton Kershaw, Hyun-Jin Ryu and Brandon McCarthy to injury, the righthander was acquired last month in a trade with the Braves to help out in the rotation. Should Norris be shelved for an extended amount of time, the Dodgers would be in desperate need of an arm.

Los Angeles has been linked to Rays pitcher Chris Archer and A’s lefty Rich Hill as Major League Baseball’s Aug. 1 trade deadline approaches.
