A multi-sport star who won three medals at the 1932 Games, Babe Didrikson Zaharias picked up golf late, but it didn't take her long to master the sport. In '50 she completed a golfing Grand Slam and continued her run of dominance until '53 when surgery for colon cancer kept her out of the U.S. Women's Open. She returned to the tournament in '54, however, and blew away the field, winning by 12 strokes.
