Charlie Villanueva, Mavericks agree on one-year deal
Free-agent forward Charlie Villanueva has agreed to return to the Dallas Mavericks on a one-year, veteran-minimum deal.
Villanueva, 31 in August, spent last season with the Mavericks following five with the Detroit Pistons. In 10.6 minutes per game, he averaged 6.3 points and 2.3 rebounds over 64 games with the Mavericks.
Dallas finished 50–32, losing to the Houston Rockets in the Western Conference quarterfinals.
“Good news Dallas fans! I'm ecstatic to announce that I will be returning back to a Mavericks uniform this upcoming season,” Villanueva wrote in the blog post.
“Since Day 1 the organization has welcomed me and my family with open arms. I felt an immediate brotherhood with my teammates. I have nothing but respect for Mark Cuban and Donnie Nelson. Those guys operate a first-class organization. They've been straight up with me and that's something that I value a lot...communication. And Coach Carlisle, what can I say about a man that wants to see the best in me and most importantly that BELIEVES in me. I thank you Coach. I don't see myself anywhere else. I love Dallas and I'm coming back.”
