Warriors Open to Trade Talks on Chris Paul, Possibly Klay Thompson, Says Insider

The Golden State Warriors enter the backend of the 2023-24 NBA regular season with a sub-.500 record and a major need for change. Golden State is 19-24, leaving them as one of the bottom-four teams in the Western Conference. But the postseason isn’t out of reach, with the Warriors five games back of a potential play-in berth.

Before the conversation about playoffs even ramps up, it’s widely believed the Warriors will look to strike a trade ahead of the Feb. 8 deadline. And as The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported, everyone is on the table, with the exception Stephen Curry. That includes both Chris Paul and even potentially Klay Thompson.

“They’re gonna take calls on Andrew Wiggins, Chris Paul. Could they get interest even on a guy like Klay Thompson? I think those are very much open conversations for the Warriors. They have to be open-minded,” Charania said on FanDuel’s Run It Back.

The Warriors have gone 3-7 over the last 10 games, but it still seems like a longshot that any member of the team’s core trio is involved in a trade. But the Warriors find themselves a bit behind the eight-ball here, so the coming week or so is going to be worth keeping a close eye on.
