Cowboys Pitched Ideal ‘All In’ Scenario Headlined With Derrick Henry Signing, per Rich Eisen

For the Dallas Cowboys and owner Jerry Jones, being a very good team throughout the regular season isn’t enough anymore. After Jones strongly stated that Dallas will be “all in” this coming season, the waiting game has now begun.

While those comments generated plenty of conversation, longtime host and sportscaster Rich Eisen offered his pitch for how the Cowboys can truly go all in. That effort would begin with one of the top talents set to hit the free-agent market, former Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry.

“Here’s what I think he needs to do, and you have to extend Dak [Prescott] in order to have the room to do it. And I think this answers a lot of problems,” Eisen said on The Rich Eisen Show. “… You want to go all-in? Go sign Derrick Henry. Go get him, put the star on the side of his helmet.”

As Eisen correctly pointed out, the Cowboys need to work out a new deal with Dak Prescott to free up cap space, as he’s due $59 million this season in the final year of his contract. But doing so could potentially free up a path to sign Henry, along with his former teammate, DeAndre Hopkins, who Eisen also believes the Cowboys should sign.

“You want to go all in? Then go all in and get some other guys. Go get DeAndre Hopkins …get guys who are hungry for a title and they may be longer in the tooth, but go get them,” Eisen stated.

There are a number of great points in this clip from Eisen, who points to numerous other teams that boast a running back capable of removing pressure from their quarterback. This includes the San Francisco 49ers and Christian McCaffrey’s impact since being acquired.

Whether Jones and the Cowboys truly do go all in will be a popular topic of debate this offseason, but these moves make a great deal of sense.
