Weekly NET: Bearcats Tumble Further Down Rankings

UC was upset by Tulane 68-60 in its AAC opener on Saturday.

CINCINNATI — The UC men's basketball team got off to a rough start in conference play and continued falling in the latest NET rankings. Cincinnati is down to No. 75 after checking in at No. 57 during last week's update.

Tulane bombarded the Bearcats from three-point range in the team's only game last week. UC fell to Jalen Cook and the Green Wave 68-60 on the strength of 10 triples from Tulane.

Looking around the rest of the conference, we start with Houston moving up one spot to No. 4. UCF jumped up from No. 53 to No. 48; Memphis went up to No. 52 from No. 60; SMU moved up to No. 71 from No. 80; While Wichita State rounded out AAC inside the top-100 ranked No. 77 after being No. 65 last week.

That means four of the six top-100 AAC teams from last week all moved up. Cincinnati and Wichita State fell after rough starts to conference play. The Bearcats take on the previously mentioned SMU Mustangs in Fifth Third Arena on Thursday. UC is expected to face a tough test against SMU; ESPN's matchup predictor has Cincinnati winning 53.5% of the time. The game tips off at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
