Notre Dame Recruiting Roundup - February 13th

In this story:
The only thing Notre Dame fans can talk about right now is the vacant offensive coordinator position, and for good reason. That is the main focus of the coaching staff, filling that role and solidifying their outstanding coaching staff.
Despite that attention, and it being a dead period on the recruiting side, it was still another busy week on the trail. With offers extended, interviews had and a top ten inclusion, Notre Dame recruiting never sleeps.
Let’s take a look at some of the main updates from this past week.
LATEST RECRUITING NEWS
On Saturday, Notre Dame received some good news when 2024 West Orange (N.J.) Seton Hall Prep standout safety Jaylen McClain announced that he had the Irish among his updated Top Ten schools.
That was the big news during the dead period outside of the recent offers that the Notre Dame staff extended for the 2024 recruiting class, and even one for 2025. This week was a great opportunity to dive deeper into the 2024 class, taking a look mostly from a regional perspective.
There are several key areas that Notre Dame needs to make waves in during the 2024 recruiting class. I took a deep dive into them here:
I also wanted to take a moment to laud the efforts from Chansi Stuckey from a recruiting perspective. It isn’t only the recruits that he has landed but also the players that he has continued to add to the board.
Coach Stuckey has had some incredible evaluations. He continues to offer and attract the attention of some very talented pass catchers in the 2024 recruiting class.
RECENT PROSPECT INTERVIEWS
During the course of the last week, I had the chance to sit down with several recruits that Notre Dame has their eyes firmly set on. It fortunately started with 2024 Cincinnati (Ohio) Archbishop Moeller cornerback Karson Hobbs, who is already committed to the Irish.
The first part of our conversation centered around Hobbs’ connection to the Notre Dame program. It turns out that the family has had a fandom for the Irish for a long time. He went in depth on his love for the program.
In the end, it wasn’t just the fandom that sold Notre Dame for the Ohio star. It was instead the relationships that he has developed with the coaches on the staff and other commits in the class. Those bonds continue to grow everyday.
I also had a chance to sit down with 2024 Landisville (Pa.) Hempfield defensive lineman Deyvid Palepale, who is a player that Notre Dame likes a ton. The Irish program has quickly risen near the top of Palepale’s list and already has plans to make a trip to South Bend over the next few months.
2024 Roanoke (Va.) Patrick Henry star linebacker Bodie Kahoun is already planning a trip to Notre Dame since being offered recently. He brings a fascinating dual sport background.
The defensive line board has been the one most busy over the last couple of months. That continued with Philadelphia (Pa.) Monsignor Bonner pass rusher Mylachi Williams, who is one of the more underrated defensive ends in the 2024 recruiting class.
Hoschton (Ga.) Mill Creek standout defender Cole Mullins is another player who has solidified a visit date to South Bend. While Mullins was overshadowed by 2023 five-star safety Caleb Downs last season, the senior now has the chance to shine even brighter.
Medina (Tenn.) South Gibson defender Cameron Clark is a player who is being projected at both linebacker and defensive end depending on the team recruiting him. Notre Dame likes him on the defensive side of the football and he is one of the more interesting pass rushers in the 2024 class.
The lone 2025 offer extended was to Miami (Fla.) Belen Jesuit defensive tackle Davion Dixon. The 6-2, 305-pound defensive lineman is very familiar with Notre Dame and is just grateful for the opportunity.
NEW OFFERS
With the dead period upon us, there is obviously limited between programs and current high school recruits. That hasn’t stopped Notre Dame from continuing to identify and offer talent who could potentially fit.
This past week, the Irish staff extended offers to four different recruits. All of them play on the defensive side of the football, which makes sense with the search for the next offensive coordinator still in the process for the staff.
DE Mylachi Williams - Philadelphia (Pa.) Monsignor Bonner
DE Cameron Clark - Medina (Tenn.) South Gibson
DT Davion Dixon (2025) - Miami (Fla.) Belen Jesuit
LB Bodie Kahoun - Roanoke (Va.) Patrick Henry
