In a college basketball season that’s lacked a true number one team, the Kansas Jayhawks have been the most consistently elite squad ranking in the AP top teen the entire season. Bill Self’s squad came into the 2019-20 campaign with a chip on its shoulder coming off the fallout of the Adidas scandal. While Baylor’s stellar season has generated all the headlines in the Big 12, 11 of the Jayhawks 21 wins fall under the Quad 1 variety — the most in the country. In fact, they don’t have a single bad loss this season as all three defeats have come against ranked teams: Duke, Villanova and Baylor. Kansas ranks at the top in Kenpom as the nation’s best defensive squad and the best strength of schedule. SI’s Amy Campbell notes the one weakness that could derail the Jayhawks and that a rematch with Baylor on February 22 could determine the Big 12 champion.
